International visitors to Viet Nam in December estimated 1,374,235 arrivals, increase 5.6% over last month and 7.7% over the same period last year. Total international arrivals in 12 months reached 15,497,791 arrivals, increase 19.9% over the same period last year.

In this period, the number of foreigners visiting Việt Nam by air and road rose by 14.4 per cent and 59.6 per cent, respectively, while the number that arrived by sea went down 17.3 per cent year-on-year due to the impact of storms Toraji and Usagi.
Tourists from Asia accounted for 77.91 per cent of the total, and rose by 23.7 per cent against the same period of 2017. There were increased numbers of visitors from almost all the main markets including the Republic of Korea (up by 44.3 per cent), mainland China (23.9 per cent), Taiwan (15.9 per cent), Thailand (15.8 per cent), Malaysia (12.4 per cent) and Japan (3.6 per cent).
The numbers of holiday-goers from Europe increased by 8.1 per cent, while visitors from the Americas were up 10.6 per cent. Total American to Vietnam in 2018 were 687,226 arrivals.
Oceania saw 4% increases and Africa both saw 19.7 per cent.
Total toursim revenue in 2017 is 510,90 trillion VND (nearly 22 billion USD).
Việt Nam is hoping to receive 17-18 million foreign visitors and 85 million domestic visitors in 2019.
